Oddly enough, the definitive John Denver version of this song wasn’t what I was familiar with growing up. No, that was the James Galway flute version - included below:

That song (John Denver, in general) was in heavy rotation at our home and on road trips when I was a kid.
Not sure what it reminds me of, but listening to it today makes the room dusty. I think it’s a beautiful song.
Brb, grabbing headphones and a tissue.

I wouldn’t ever say that this was my “favorite” song or anything like that, but it sure is the creator of the dustiest rooms that I know.

I had the album with that song back in the day, and listened to it constantly. Of course, Denver divorced Annie after something like three years of marriage. Still a beautiful song, though. And if you haven’t ever heard it, you should go pick up the John Denver/Muppets Christmas album. We listen to it every year. It’s fantastic.

Listening to
Annie’s Song
was this morning’s basis for insistence from a co-worker that I’m secretly a 65 year old. Other mornings it’s been other things.

Not necessarily that old. I’ll be 50 and I owned that record when it came out. So you can take 15 years off that estimate. And screw that coworker anyway. Denver was a great songwriter, singer and guitarist. Unfortunately, he was a lousy pilot.
